Often listened to as a direct companion to Born To Die, Paradise is by far Lana’s most well-known EP and includes some of her most popular tracks, including Cola and Body Electric. The lyrics encompass several hallmarks of a classical LDR song, with plenty of references to fast cars, being famous, looking gorgeous, and being hopelessly in love. Standout tracks: Ride, Body Electric, Cola, Burning Desire, American. I think it’s probably something to do with the fact that Lust For Life marks a slight departure from the Lana that people were used to, as she utilised a lot of artist collabs with the likes of Stevie Nicks, A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti. Make you real proud of your baby Lana Del Rey has released the title track from her upcoming album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Tropico is quite different to Lana’s other EPs, which is because, in addition to having 3 audio tracks, it also includes a 27-minute short film that shares a name with the EP, Tropico. [Verse 1] Chemtrails Over The Country Club out March 19th, 2021! She's not gonna be a top selling act, but … Reaching #321 on the Rolling Stone ‘Greatest Albums Of All Time’ list, it’s safe to say that this was a critical success as well as fan favourite. Rather than opting to create a highly sanitised audio album with crisp quality and no background noise, Lana's chosen to record the narration herself and have the music played over it. It was released as the first promotional single from her album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!, along with "The Greatest". If you want no-holds-barred honest songwriting from the lady, I recommend you check out Ultraviolence, especially tracks like Fucked My Way Up To The Top. Standout tracks: Cruel World, Ultraviolence, Shades Of Cool, West Coast, The Other Woman. People have noted quite a Lolita-esque quality to the lyrics, but I don’t think it’s quite as prominent as the critics tried to make out. In terms of the hardback itself, I think it's a work of art in itself. Now I'm here with you, and I Lana Del Rey sanatçısının 'Love Song' şarkısının İngilizce dilinden Türkçe diline çevirisi Whilst there were tracks from it that were leaked, I’ll not promote this one out of respect for Lana, as I feel that if she wanted people to be listening to it, she’d have given it a proper release. It all comes down to make the sound of our love song. In the car in the car in the backseat I’m your baby We go fast we go so fast we don’t move I believe in a place you take me Make you real proud of your baby In your car I’m a star and I’m burning through you In the simplest of terms, Honeymoon is just pure aural and visual glamour. Off To The Races is inescapably Lolita-esque in its nature, but I don’t feel this theme encapsulates the album as a whole. Stylistically, Young Like Me is clearly influenced by the acoustic folk and country albums that Lana listened to before hitting the big stage. If you’ve already listened to all of Lana’s studio albums, there’s not really any point in making separate visits to these two EPs - that’s unless you’re interested in the different photos that appear on the covers. So spill my clothes on the floor of your new car Oh, thanks for the high life I’ll be writing a few paragraphs per album, so feel free to just skip to the ‘Standout tracks’ parts of my post (I’ll include 5 tracks for the studio albums/Paradise EP and 3 for the demos) so you can get the basics from this post. Despite its critical appraisal, a fair few fans have actually expressed their indifference to it, certainly more so than towards other albums - that’s not to say that it doesn’t have its huge supporters. “Love song” is an ode to Del Rey’s romantic partner. Love Song Lyrics | Lana Del Rey. . I’ll cover all of her studio albums, EPs and demos, but I’ll go through them all separately. NFR is probably Lana’s most rock-influenced album and after Lust For Life, it shows Lana’s versatility both in terms of genre-bending and songwriting. In the car, in the car, in the backseat, I'm your baby In some ways, I see Lust For Life as the mature reworking of Lana Del Ray, using the same hip-hop/trap influences, only in a more developed way. A gorgeous blend of acoustic rock and folk, No Kung Fu is a superb precursor to Lana Del Ray and marks a significant turning point in Lana’s career where she started to form the sound that’d go on to appear in Lana Del Ray and later albums. Lyin' on your chest in my party dress Produced by Lana Del Rey & Jack Antonoff. You know that I'd just die to make you proud She was often mocked for her singing register in her early days, which led her to lower her voice a fair bit, but I think her demos as May Jailer show just how beautiful a voice she has. If Honeymoon doesn’t make you feel something, I don’t think anything of Lana’s will. I mean, she's good at choosing the closing tracks for her albums because these songs already tease what's coming next. It doesn’t really matter which one you listen to first, they’re both fabulous pieces of art. You know that I'd just die to make you proud / The taste, the touch, the way we love / It all comes down to make the sound of our love song The songstress teased a snippet of the song via Instagram on December 31st, 2018, with fans calling it “In Your Car” until its official title was revealed in July 2019 via the Shazam app. I don't know about you, but Lana's decision to take this approach to her album makes it far easier to relate to and makes me feel like I could do it too if I wanted. The song is featured on Del Rey's sixth studio album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!. This was Lana’s second demo as May Jailer, but it remains unreleased. During this period, Lana was still finding her persona and sound (evidenced through her transition from May Jailer to Lizzy Grant, eventually ending up as Lana), so I don’t think it’s a fair representation of her overall sound. Touch me anywhere ’cause I'm your baby The soft music helps add to the ambience of each poem, especially when you consider the gritty elements of LA and city life that she refers to in the earlier poems. EDIT: Here's what I think of Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass, copied from my comment in the megathread: My hardback and cassette copies arrived today and I've read the first few poems from the book whilst playing the cassette so that I could listen to Lana narrate what I'm reading. The combination of the paintings and her original photography along with photos of her typewritten poems/haikus makes the hardback very aesthetically pleasing. It all comes down to make the sound of our love song Looking back, it was a weird listening order, but it made me fall in love with Lana, so it clearly wasn't that bad! It all helps build this DIY feel which, to me, makes it come across as a far more personal release for Lana. Lana Del Rey - Love song (tradução) (Letra e música para ouvir) - You know that I'd just die to make you proud / The taste, the touch, the way we love / It all comes down to make the sound of our love song With reference to my remarks about Born To Die’s listenability either in separate bits or as a full album, I feel that NFR is best listened to in one go. This album captures the essence of what road trips were like in the early 2010s; sat in the back of your parents’ car with Born To Die playing through your earphones and you just looking out of the window, pretending to be in a sad film. Ultraviolence is actually a nice pairing with Honeymoon and can be listened to interchangeably with it - I like to imagine Honeymoon to be the sequel to Ultraviolence in that it’s Lana’s escape from the toxicity of Ultraviolence and her documentation of her release. The songwriting on this album is excellent, exploring drunkenness, tough love and ‘50s Americana. It’s definitely to be listened to in one session with full attention paid to it. NFR will particularly appeal to people who are into literature and poetry, particularly ‘50s and ‘60s American poetry from the likes of Sylvia Plath (whom she name-drops in Venice Bitch) and Allen Ginsberg (whom she cites as one of her major influences for her Violets Bent poetry book). If anyone reads Lana’s poetry book Violets Bent Backwards over the Grass before listening to her music, I think NFR is the first logical step towards becoming a fan of Lana’s music. Released under the May Jailer persona when Lana was only 20, Young Like Me is the first release she ever put out and is a brilliant one at that. I don't know how Gods & Monsters is not a standout track on Paradise........ A place to discuss and share all matters concerning singer, Lana Del Rey. Lana Del Rey - Love song (Letras y canción para escuchar) - You know that I'd just die to make you proud / The taste, the touch, the way we love / It all comes down to make the sound of our love song Standout tracks: Norman Fucking Rockwell, Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch, Fuck It I Love You, Cinnamon Girl. Whilst her previous outputs predominantly use baroque pop/dream pop/soft rock song structures and instrumentations, Lust For Life arguably utilises hip-hop influences in a manner which hadn’t really been done since Lana Del Ray (which I’ll be moving on to next) - trap beats are present in part but don’t define the album’s instrumental style in the same way that they do the latter half of Lana Del Ray. Of course, it’s possible to listen to it in singles (Mariners Apartment Complex and Venice Bitch, for example), but the tracks on NFR are so stylistically and thematically interwoven that I feel it’s best appreciated as a single entity. Now I’m here with you, and I It leaked along with an a cappella version of "Ben" and a demo of "You're Gonna Love Me". Arguably, this is on par with Born To Die as Lana’s most accessible album, but I opted to put NFR behind Born To Die simply because it’s from much later on in Lana’s career. Not nearly enough people have listened to the May Jailer demos, which sucks because they’re lovely. I just remember sat in the car with Born To Die playing and I was utterly transfixed. This is the album that broke Lana into the mainstream, gaining her countless platinums, millions of album sales and over 300 weeks in the Billboard charts. Listen to Lana Del Rey’s latest song. Received rather well by critics, Honeymoon found itself (deservedly) appearing on a lot of publications’ ‘Top Albums of 2015’ lists. Lana certainly didn’t shy away from her Americana theme throughout Paradise, visually or musically. It was one of those moments, you kinda like when you need a boyfriend that you’re like ‘oh my gosh’ like there’s something really good here, like we should definitely work here…, Conway Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA, USA, Rough Customer Studio in Brooklyn, NY, USA & House of Breaking Glass in Seattle, WA, USA, In the car, in the car, in the backseat, I'm your baby, So spill my clothes on the floor of your new car, hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have - but i have it. Rather than being something unobtainable because it'd require a lot of money and connections, Violet Bent presents itself as a DIY project that encourages others to follow suit. I believe that you see me for who I am It’s my hope that she eventually releases these demos officially as I’m not keen on the idea of listening to leaked music if it’s not as she wishes. I’ve seen many posts on this sub over the past few months asking for recommendations on where to start for Lana’s music, so I thought I’d create my own beginner’s guide. It totally makes sense that you'd listen to it chronologically, I see your thinking there. People should really listen to Born to Die first. Generally speaking, only diehard or longer-term fans have listened to Lana Del Ray, which I think is a massive shame because it’s so underrated. Lyrically, Young Like Me is a nice little glimpse into the romantic lyrics that would later define her career as Lana Del Rey. Is it safe, is it safe to just be who we are? With an ethereal backdrop of dream-pop instrumentation, Honeymoon is Lana at her finest in my opinion - the reason why I think this shouldn’t be listened to first is that it’s such a grandiose listening experience that I feel listeners should establish at least a basic familiarity with Lana’s music before diving in. Due to its obvious link to Born To Die, it makes total sense to listen to before the other EPs - I recommend listening to Born To Die and Paradise in the same session if you’re not listening to them in bits and pieces. You can also clearly see how Lana influenced artists such as Billie Eilish, especially through tracks like Brite Lites, which exhibits a bassy trap beat underbelly and breathy vocal style similar to that of Billie. NFR is a beautiful blend of poetic pop ballads and soft rock lullabies, and I think that this is Lana’s smartest attempt to convey vulnerability through songwriting - Ultraviolence, for example, wears its emotions on its sleeve, but there’s almost an implicit subtlety to NFR’s vulnerability, especially seen through tracks like Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have – but I Have It. If you’re wondering why I’ve put Lust For Life so low down the album listing, it’s nothing to do with my feelings towards the album, it’s because I feel like it’s a brilliant accompaniment to Lana Del Ray, which I feel is a good studio album to close on. Baby, it's the best, passed the test and yes I don't feel like I'm reading a book of poetry, I feel like I'm experiencing the stories through the lens of Lana's eyes and thoughts. As someone who listened to Lana Del Ray last, I’m glad I did as I was able to appreciate it properly, especially with context to her demo days and later studio albums. Blending alternative pop with baroque pop (pop combined with classical elements, which are present in the orchestral parts of songs like Born To Die), Born To Die remains an accessible and memorable Lana album because of its ability to be listened to in one session or as separate singles. Anyone from a literary background can admire it for its careful craftwork. I listened to the opening 3 tracks on Born To Die and knew I'd heard something special. You can actually see where she's used correction fluids on the pages and written over words, which actually has quite a charm to it. I envy anyone who’s yet to listen to Honeymoon, for they’re in for an absolute treat. 2017’s Lust For Life is often a divisive album amongst Lana fans, at least from my experience. My reasoning for putting Lana Del Ray as the studio album that I recommend listening to last isn’t anything to do with its quality, but because I feel it goes hand-in-hand with Lust For Life and because I think it’s best appreciated by people who’ve become accustomed to Lana’s style and sound. To me, this is Lana at her absolute best, and she exerts beauty and opulence - I mean, just look at the Honeymoon photoshoot; Lana’s aesthetic here is unmatched by any musical artist of the last few decades, in my opinion. Indie leaning act without the trappings of being actually indie, an artist who can be popular with girls for her femininity and guys for her looks and content. Oh, be my once in a lifetime It's not your typical print poetry book, it's essentially a photo book with photographs of typewritten poems. The sultry piano, Lana's soft voice, the fuzzy hissing, the smooth cover sleeve, the expressive artwork, the wonky font - these all work together to show how imperfection is sometimes better than perfection. The first thing I noticed is how DIY the book is. Interesting how you listened to some of the singles before the albums themselves. "Fuck It I Love You" (stylized as sentence case) is a song by American singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey. If I had to guess which album is the most popular amongst Lana’s fanbase, I’d probably guess Honeymoon to be such an album, but I may be wrong. I'm a fuckin' mess, but I Upvoted! For me personally, I never listen to singles (for any artist), I just dive straight in and listen to their full studio albums and if I like them, I'll binge their discography. Listening to Lana Del Ray, you can really hear where her Lust For Life influences came from. As Lana herself notes on the album, Ultraviolence doesn’t have a running theme as such (certainly not as much as her outputs like Honeymoon or NFR), but the lyrical themes across the entire album are darkly melancholic and show Lana at her most vulnerable, exploring violence, sadness and the side-effects of fame. The slow tempo and uncomplicated composition of the beat put the words center stage, particularly in the chorus. I highly recommend that you listen to the narrations of the album as you read the poems (those which she recorded), as it adds to the experience magnificently. Standout tracks: Honeymoon, Art Deco, Salvatore, 24, The Blackest Day. On July 8, 2017, a snippet of the song surfaced online, and after speculation from fans that the song would be released a single, Del Rey revealed that it would be released on July 12, 2017, along with "Summer Bummer", which also features ASAP Rocky. Then, within the space of a couple of days, I'd listened to all of her studio albums and I haven't looked back.
